We moved to Vancouver Island in 2002 from Ontario after retiring from a career in retail in Cottage country and running a bed & breakfast.
I began watercolour painting after retiring as a form of therapy and never looked back.. Self taught in the beginning. I discovered a vibrant art scene & many art groups on the island and joined a number of them.
I particularly enjoy landscape paintings & joined the Peninsula Plein Aire Painters in 2009.
In 2009 I faced a new challenge. It is called Parkinson's Disease but I vow to continue painting while I am able.
I have been able to continue painting in spite of Parkinson Disease and Arthritis in my hands for the last 12 years I believe it is great therapy and inspiration to continue doing what you love. I have been fortunate to have sold a lot of my work. I mainly paint in acrylic at present and still find inspiration in the surrounding landscape and joy in continually learning. When I paint I do not have Parkinson Disease .
Unfortunately as Parkinson progresses I have had to spend more time in the studio instead of outdoors with the Plein Aire Painters but I am still never tired of learning and being inspired by the beauty of this Island.
Presently I have paintings in Royal Jubilee Hospital at the Movement Disorder Clinic, and at Parkinson Wellness Project 202- 2680 Blanshard St. Victoria, B.C.
Many other showings had to be cancelled due to the Corona 19 Virus.
